EXTOLLING THE achievements of Chief Sam Amuka-Pemu, the publisher of Vanguard newspapers, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has acknowledged him as a media colossus who has significantly influenced contemporary Nigerian journalism through hard work and dedication.
In a congratulatory message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Lekan Adeniran, in Abeokuta on Friday, Governor Abiodun celebrated Chief Amuka-Pemu’s 89th birthday, commending his steadfast commitment to ethical journalism and his role in establishing Vanguard as a paragon of truth and fairness.
The governor praised Amuka-Pemu’s visionary leadership and his pivotal contributions to public discourse and democratic principles in Nigeria.
“It is with great pleasure and immense pride that I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the revered Vanguard publisher, Chief Sam Amuka-Pemu, on the occasion of his 89th birthday.
Obviously, Chief Amuka-Pemu is a towering figure in the media landscape, whose contributions to the development of journalism in Nigeria over the past decades are unparalleled,” Governor Abiodun stated.
The governor highlighted Amuka-Pemu’s unwavering pursuit of truth, his courage in adversity, and his dedication to journalistic integrity, which have earned him widespread respect and admiration and lauded Amuka-Pemu’s inspirational legacy, expressing confidence that it will continue to guide future generations of media professionals.
“I, therefore, join the Nigerian media community in wishing Chief Sam Amuka-Pemu a joyous and fulfilling celebration. May he continue to be blessed with good health, wisdom, and the unwavering spirit that has defined his remarkable career. May the Almighty God grant him many more years of impactful service to our nation,” the statement concluded.
