DELTA STATE Governor Sheriff Oborevwori praised youths and stakeholders for embracing peace during the protests.
In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude for the peaceful conduct of Deltans.
The governor addressed the youths of Delta, thanking them for their orderly conduct.
He emphasized the state’s commitment to security and welfare, citing Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution, which states that the primary purpose of government is to protect the people.
Oborevwori reaffirmed the state’s dedication to good governance through their MORE Agenda.
Lagos Speaker Commends Lagosians
Similarly, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa of the Lagos State House of Assembly commended the peace in Lagos during nationwide protests.
He praised Lagos residents for maintaining order and acting lawfully.
Dr. Obasa acknowledged the peaceful conduct of protesters across Lagos, the South-West region, and major parts of Nigeria.
He appreciated citizens for listening to reason and wisdom.
In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Eromosele Ebhomele, the Speaker noted that protesters in Lagos acted within the law, allowing residents to go about their activities peacefully.
“Lagosians’ conduct since the protests began on Thursday is commendable,” Dr. Obasa said.
“While many residents stayed away, those who expressed grievances did so lawfully.”
He emphasized that both state and federal governments are addressing the concerns raised by protesters.
He mentioned President Bola Tinubu’s policies aimed at moving Nigeria forward and the steps taken to address food shortages.
In Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with support from the House of Assembly, has provided development roadmaps and maintained standards.
The administration’s strategies to reduce hunger include Sunday Markets offering a 25% discount on major food items.
Dr. Obasa highlighted ongoing state efforts to extend democratic dividends to residents.
Initiatives include the Medical Outreach programme, free deliveries for pregnant women, and reduced fares on government transport.
The Speaker assured that the House would collaborate with the executive arm to ensure continued benefits for Lagos residents.
He thanked law enforcement for their professionalism and community leaders for their support.
