ANNOUNCING SIGNIFICANT strides in infrastructural and human capital development, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori highlighted the peace and progress achieved in Delta State over the past year, despite economic challenges and without incurring any debts.

He made the declaration at the 1st anniversary thanksgiving service of the 8th Delta State House of Assembly at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Asaba.

“God has been faithful in the affairs of the state. We are enjoying peace and progress,” the governor said. “Delta State has not borrowed in the last year, and our House of Assembly members are thriving. We will continue to support them and ensure they can serve effectively.”

Oborevwori encouraged the Assembly members to serve with the fear of God, promising that the state will continue to flourish under divine guidance.

Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, expressed gratitude for the Assembly’s successful first year, inaugurated on June 13, 2023. He praised the harmonious relationship between the Assembly and the Executive, attributing it to the governor’s deep understanding of legislative processes.

“The 8th Assembly is unique with the governor’s background as a former presiding officer,” Speaker Guwor stated. “We have enjoyed a robust partnership and have already passed nine out of 18 proposed bills.”

In his sermon, Pastor Olufemi Olumide of the Redeemed Christian Church of God emphasized the importance of thanksgiving and commended the Assembly for their appreciation of God’s blessings. The event was marked as a new beginning for the State legislature, integrating faith into its governance.

The service saw attendance from notable figures, including the governor’s wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, immediate past Deputy Governor Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, and other dignitaries.
