EMPOWERING WIDOWS will take centre stage in Delta State next year as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori promises impactful initiatives to improve their wellbeing.
Speaking at a Widows’ Empowerment Forum in Boji-Boji Owa, Ika North-East Local Government Area, the Governor affirmed his administration’s commitment to launching comprehensive support schemes by 2025.
Delivering his sermon at the event organised by Apostle Chris Eruemulor of Calvary World Outreach, the Governor highlighted the divine importance of caring for widows.
Drawing from Deuteronomy 16:11–14, he said, “Widows hold a special place in God’s heart. It’s our responsibility to ensure they are cared for, as this pleases Him.”
Governor Oborevwori urged the widows to remain steadfast in faith and avoid societal pressures that demean their dignity.
He described the Yuletide season as a perfect time to celebrate Christ’s love by uplifting vulnerable groups, including widows.
Acknowledging the role of their prayers in his political journey, the Governor encouraged the women to continue praying for the success of his administration.
“Your prayers have contributed to where I am today, and I urge you not to stop,” he said.
The event also featured a special recognition of Apostle Chris Eruemulor, who has sustained the tradition of distributing food items to widows yearly.
Apostle Eruemulor reminded the attendees of Christ’s enduring companionship and promised to continue the programme as a divine mandate.
Governor Oborevwori extended his Christmas and New Year wishes to the widows, emphasising his administration’s vision to prioritise their welfare in 2025.
