CHIEF EMMANUEL Iwuanyanwu, a prominent Nigerian businessman and the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has died.
He passed away on Thursday, July 25, at the age of 82 after a brief illness.
Jide Iwuanyanwu, his son, confirmed the news in a statement.
The statement revealed that Chief Iwuanyanwu died in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The Iwuanyanwu family from Umuohii Atta in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State announced his passing, describing him as their patriarch.
Chief Iwuanyanwu was a significant figure in Nigerian society.
Before his death, he was the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and the President of Owerri Peoples Assembly.
He owned several business interests, including Champion Newspapers, a leading media brand in Nigeria.
Chief Iwuanyanwu is survived by his wife, Lady Princess Frances Iwuanyanwu, and numerous children and grandchildren.
The family will announce burial details after consultations.
The passing of Chief Iwuanyanwu marks the loss of a celebrated icon of the Ndigbo community.
He is the second President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to die in recent times.
