EXTORTIONISTS MASQUERADING as assassins have threatened to kill the founder of Penpushing Media, Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, unless he pays them N20 million.
The gang, led by a caller who identified himself as Femi Poly, contacted the journalist at 7:30am, claiming they had been hired to eliminate him but were willing to spare his life if he met their financial demand.
During the call, the group insisted they had his photograph and were acting on instructions from someone close to him.
However, they offered to disclose the identity of their sponsor only after receiving the ransom.
When Kayode-Adedeji stated he could not afford N20 million, the suspects reduced their demand to N500,000 and later to N150,000.
As negotiations continued, they agreed to accept an initial payment of N10,000 and provided an Access Bank account—0002884692, registered to one Aminu Adamu—for the transaction.
The journalist has since reported the matter to the police, who have launched an investigation.
