DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS in Rivers State have received a boost as Governor Siminalayi Fubara signed the ₦1.18 trillion appropriation law for 2025 on Thursday.
Moreover, the governor emphasised the unity of the state’s legislature, asserting that Rt Hon Victor Oko-Jumbo leads the only recognised House of Assembly in Rivers State.
Also dispelling claims of a divided assembly, Fubara remarked, “We have just one Rivers State House of Assembly, headed by Rt Hon Victor Oko-Jumbo.
“Those who strayed have no relevance now. We’ve moved on.”
His comments followed speculation stemming from a political split between his administration and allies of a former governor of the state, Nyesom Wike, currently Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
He also noted that the 2025 budget, signed three days after being presented, allocates ₦462.3 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦678.1 billion for capital projects.
Governor Fubara pledged that the budget would address infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agriculture while maintaining fiscal discipline.
Rt Hon Victor Oko-Jumbo praised the governor’s leadership, highlighting significant strides in governance and the welfare of civil servants, including a second ₦100,000 Christmas bonus and an ₦85,000 minimum wage.
