THE RISING cost of living, economic uncertainties, and inflationary pressures have spurred the Lagos State Government to intensify efforts toward tangible developmental projects across critical sectors in 2025.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving transportation, energy, agriculture, healthcare, and the environment while aligning with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking at the 2025 Lagos Annual Thanksgiving Service held at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island, the Governor acknowledged the resilience of Lagos residents amidst current economic realities.
He assured the public that targeted interventions would address challenges in various areas, including transportation, food security, and healthcare.
Governor Sanwo-Olu outlined plans to expand the state’s municipal rail system, accelerate the construction of a food logistics hub, and implement the Lagos State Electricity Law of 2024.
The new law aims to unbundle the electricity value chain, creating a reliable and affordable power supply system for homes, offices, and industries in Lagos.
He also highlighted upcoming grassroots elections in 2025, which he described as critical to strengthening local governance and ensuring autonomy at the local government level.
The Governor attributed these efforts to a shared responsibility between federal and state governments, expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for supporting Lagos State on major projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Expressway.
During the service, attended by prominent figures, including Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa, and Chief Judge Kazeem Alogba, prayers were offered for Nigeria, Lagos State, and their leaders.
Clerics led by Pastor J.T. Kalejaiye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God urged attendees to continuously give thanks to God.
The Governor’s wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, participated actively, reading a Bible lesson alongside other dignitaries who took turns delivering scriptural messages of hope and resilience.
The annual thanksgiving service concluded with renewed vows by the Lagos State Government to redouble efforts in critical areas of development while aligning with the Federal Government’s vision of prosperity for all Nigerians.
