A LION attack has left a man dead at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) zoological garden in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The victim, Babaji Duale, 35, from Bauchi State, was a trained handler responsible for caring for the lion.
Tragically, his death resulted from an error in handling the animal.
Duale reportedly failed to lock and barricade the lion’s enclosure before attempting to feed the wild animal.
During the incident, the lion escaped and fatally attacked Duale, delivering a lethal bite to his neck.
Efforts to subdue the animal involved security personnel, who shot the lion to release its grip on the handler.
The victim’s body was subsequently moved to the Ijaye General Hospital mortuary.
This attack comes months after a similar incident at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) zoo, where another handler was killed by a lion.
