THE NIGERIAN Senate has emphasized the need for stronger collaboration with China’s Parliament to enhance bilateral trade and diplomatic relations.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio made this call during a courtesy visit from the new Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, alongside senior embassy officials in Abuja.
Akpabio highlighted the importance of building on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent visit to China and Nigeria’s participation in the Forum on China/Africa Cooperation held in September.
He urged Ambassador Dunhai to deepen efforts in strengthening both nations’ ties, particularly in parliamentary engagement and trade development.
“We look forward to mutual benefits that arise from closer ties between our parliaments,” Akpabio said.
“The Senate remains committed to fostering an environment where both nations can thrive economically and diplomatically.”
Ambassador Dunhai expressed China’s willingness to expand its support for Nigeria, emphasizing shared goals in economic growth, technology transfer, and infrastructure development.
The meeting underscores Nigeria’s pursuit of partnerships that enhance trade and promote regional stability.
