THE Presidency has quashed rumours surrounding the absence of President Bola Tinubu from the country, asserting that his whereabouts are not due to medical reasons.
Following his non-return to Nigeria after World Economic Forum (WEF) in Saudi Arabia, concerns emerged about Tinubu’s location.
However, reacting to these speculations, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Tunji Alausa, clarified that Tinubu’s absence is not health-related.
“Let me tell you, we are developing a healthcare system for Nigerians not for the President. We have 220 million Nigerians and that’s what Mr. President wants,” stated the minister during Tuesday’s edition of a television station’s morning brief.
“We have a president that is well, that is healthy and leading the country in the right direction. The president is getting some of his care in Nigeria,” Alausa stressed.
President is also set to return to Nigeria on Wednesday sequel to a two-week absence after his initial travel to Saudi Arabia for an Economic Forum.
However, he later embarked on an undisclosed mission to Europe, which is what sparked controversy, according to Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, while he confirmed Tinubu’s impending return through his X platform.
Onanuga announced, “President Tinubu, along with his aides, will return to Nigeria tomorrow from Europe.”
