President Prioritises Nigerians’ Well-Being, Reaffirms Commitment to Country’s Prosperity

THE PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu-led administration has reaffirmed its commitment to leading Nigeria into a prosperous future, emphasising the central role of citizens in the government’s efforts.

President Tinubu expressed these commitments on Wednesday during a New Year homage at his Oyinkan Abayomi Drive residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.

His visitors included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and former principal officers of the National Assembly.

Receiving the delegation, President Tinubu highlighted the importance of collaboration between the executive and legislative arms, acknowledging the National Assembly’s consistent support over the past 19 months.

He reiterated that every policy and initiative undertaken by his administration is designed to improve the lives of Nigerians and create a solid foundation for future generations.

“Our transformative journey is for all Nigerians and generations yet unborn,” Tinubu stated.

“Your commitment and support will yield lasting results. Together, we have the courage and determination to take this nation to the Promised Land.”

The President also spoke about his administration’s resolve to make bold decisions for national development.

Using a Yoruba proverb, he noted, “It is only a courageous dog that will capture the animal in the bush.”

He assured the lawmakers that he remains committed to advancing reforms, fostering intellectual inquiry, and ensuring that no challenge is left unaddressed.

Senate President Akpabio praised Tinubu for his visionary leadership, courage, and commitment to economic reforms.

He pointed to recent milestones, including the oversubscription of Nigeria’s Eurobond and improved ease of doing business, as evidence of the government’s positive trajectory.

“Your bold reforms and strategic policies have not only attracted foreign investors but also instilled confidence in the Nigerian economy,” Akpabio said.

He pledged the National Assembly’s unwavering support, emphasising the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the administration’s goals.

House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas expressed gratitude for Tinubu’s respect for the National Assembly.

He highlighted the President’s willingness to listen and respond to the legislature’s requests, describing it as historic.

Abbas also commended Tinubu for alleviating poverty through targeted initiatives and fostering unity within the National Assembly.

“Nigerians faced significant challenges at the beginning of 2023, but as the year progressed, we saw more prosperity and hope for a brighter future,” Abbas said.

“By 2025, we believe every Nigerian will be proud of this administration’s achievements.”

We’re Turning The Corner – Says Shettima

Vice President Shettima also expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic future.

Speaking after the meeting, he noted that while global economic factors like the Ukraine war have created challenges, Nigeria is navigating these hurdles through strategic policies and resilience.

“We are turning the corner,” Shettima said.

“The economy has started improving, and in the coming months, Nigerians will see the benefits of our hard work. We are working closely with the National Assembly to develop robust solutions to our challenges.”

Shettima assured Nigerians that the administration is committed to fostering sustained economic growth and creating an environment conducive to development.

He expressed confidence that 2025 would bring significant economic activity and improvements in citizens’ lives.

The meeting concluded with the leaders reaffirming their dedication to building a united and prosperous Nigeria.
