OGUN STATE Governor Dapo Abiodun has been chosen to lead the Southern Governors’ Forum, succeeding the late Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.
This decision was made during a meeting in Abeokuta attended by sixteen governors from the southern region.
Babajide Sanwoolu, Lagos State Governor, announced the consensus, emphasizing the collective belief in Abiodun’s capability to steer the forum effectively.
Reacting to his appointment, Abiodun expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by his peers and pledged to lead with inclusiveness and efficiency, aiming to address key regional issues alongside his vice-chairman, Anambra State Governor Professor Charles Soludo.
“This is indeed a significant honour bestowed upon me by my esteemed colleagues, and I deeply appreciate their confidence in my leadership. Together, we will strive to ensure quality governance across our states and collectively engender exceptional regional development throughout Southern Nigeria,” Abiodun stated.
He also extended congratulations to Soludo on his new role as Vice Chairman, emphasizing their shared commitment to advancing the interests of the southern states.
