RIVERS State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reiterated the commitment of his administration to collaborate with the Federal Government in addressing housing challenges faced by low-income earners in the state.
During a courtesy visit by the management tea of Federal Housing Authority of Nigeria (FHAN), led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hon Oyetunde Ojo, the governor emphasized his commitment.
Highlighting the significance of cooperative efforts between the federal and state authorities, Fubara emphasized the need to alleviate the burden of housing affordability for citizens, including both low and medium-income earners.
He commended the FHAN’s social housing policy, which aligns with his administration’s objective, particularly the ongoing 20,000 housing units project targeting low-income earners.
The governors expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the FG’s support and highlighted the importance of partnership in achieving sustainable development outcomes.
He welcome FHAN’s commitment to collaborate with the state government, emphasizing the importance of designing housing solutions tailored to the needs of local communities.
Hon Oyetunde Ojo, in his response, outlined FHAN’s mandate to provide affordable housing solutions and solicited the governor’s support in facilitating land allocation for housing projects. He emphasized the importance of local government engagement in the design and implementation of housing initiatives to ensure their sustainability and effectiveness.
Ojo noted that the collaboration between the state and FHAN underscores a concerted effort to address housing challenges and improve living standards for residents, adding that through strategic partnerships and community-centred approaches, both entities aim to advance inclusive development and promote access to affordable housing for all state citizens.
