THE Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has revealed that the High Court building complex in Asaba is set to be inaugurated in May as part of the commemorative projects marking administration’s first year in office.

Speaking to journalists during an inspection of the project, Governor Oborevwori expressed satisfaction with the exterior finishing of the building but raised concerns about the interior finishing, instructing the contractor to ensure proper completion of the project ahead of the scheduled inauguration.

The five-storey high court building features conference halls, chambers, a library, zoom room, computer laboratory, public and private elevators, holding cells for suspects, registry, canteen, car park, and male and female convenience apartments.

He also emphasized the importance of the project, highlighting his repeated visits to monitor progress, indicating that the high court complex is among the projects earmarked for commissioning to mark his one-year anniversary in office.

Accompanied by Dr. Kingsley Emu, the Secretary to the State Government, and Justice Theresa Diai, the Chief Judge of Delta State, the governor expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the project but noted assurances from contractors regarding timely completion.

Regarding power supply, the governor disclosed plans to connect the complex to the Independent Power Plant to ensure reliable electricity.

In anticipation of May Day celebrations, Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed the commitment of workers’ welfare, citing past initiatives such as clearing outstanding promotion arrears and supporting local government in settling pension arrears and hinted at further announcements for the May Day address.
