Akpabio Denies Plans for New Aircraft Amidst Controversy

By Jemimah Wellington, JKNMedia Reporter

AMID CLAIMS suggesting plans for the procurement of new aircraft for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima by the federal government, Senate President Akpabio has refuted and dismissed the reports as false.

He addressed reporters in Maiduguri after visiting Senator Tahir Monguno to offer condolences on his father’s passing.

Reports had emerged last week alleging that the Senate President indicated readiness to approve funds for new aircraft despite national concerns over economic hardships.

But the Senate President said such should be disregarded and seen as the work of propagandists and detractors, emphasizing the Senate’s commitment to advancing core legislative priorities aligned with federal government’s focus.

Regarding security in Borno State, Akpabio expressed satisfaction and encouraged Nigerians to support the administration while continuing to pray for its success.

Reassuring the public, he states, “I want to dispel the rumour that the Senate President intends to grant approval for the procurement of a new plane for the President and Vice President, regardless of national needs. This misinformation is the product of those who fail to recognize our efforts.”

Acknowledging the progress in Borno, Akpabio credited President Tinubu’s initiatives and urged continued backing from the people of the state.
