TOWARDS INITIATING a series of significant project inaugurations to mark the first anniversary of his administration on May 29, President Bola Tinubu departed Abuja for Lagos Saturday.

On Sunday in Lagos, Tinubu will officially open the newly constructed concrete-paved road leading to the nation’s primary ports in Apapa and Tin Can Island.

This road, initially started during the Muhammadu Buhari administration, was financed by the Dangote Group through its tax credits program.

Additionally, Tinubu will virtually inaugurate the refurbished Third Mainland Bridge on the same day. The bridge has received widespread praise for its top-notch finishing and aesthetic improvements.

He will also remotely commission the rehabilitation of 330 roads and bridges across the nation.

The highlight of Sunday’s events will be the launch of the Lagos-Calabar Superhighway, a monumental project expected to cost around N15 trillion.

This legacy initiative, designed to connect nine coastal states, has already seen Section Two awarded to Hitech Construction Limited.

After his engagements in Lagos, President Tinubu will return to Abuja on Tuesday to continue his commissioning activities.

First on his agenda is the inauguration of the Southern Parkway, which has been named in his honor by the Nyesom Wike-led Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration.

On Wednesday, Tinubu will participate in the National Assembly Dialogue Series, followed by the unveiling of the National Assembly Complex, also bearing his name.

He will then relaunch the Abuja Light Rail, commonly known as Abuja Metro, by taking a symbolic train ride to the city center.

The Abuja Metro, completed in 2018 during the Buhari administration, was operational until 2020 when it was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Subsequent vandalism rendered the facility non-operational.

FCT Minister Wike has since invested $15 million into refurbishing the rail system and constructing access roads to various stations, restoring it for commercial use.

Following the metro relaunch, Tinubu will inaugurate the Wuye Flyover-Link Bridge and the new Defence Intelligence Agency Headquarters.

On Friday, May 31, the president will commission the NASENI-Portland Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Reverse Engineering Centre in Utako, further highlighting his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and technological advancement.
