AT 7 A.M. ON Wednesday, June 12, 2024, President Bola Tinubu will address the nation in a broadcast marking Democracy Day which will be broadcasted live through the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
Other television, radio, and electronic media outlets across the country are encouraged to connect to these network services.
Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement on Tuesday, said the speech is anticipated to highlight the progress of Nigeria’s democratic journey and the government’s vision for the future, reflecting on 25 years of uninterrupted democratic governance.
The upcoming address by President Tinubu is expected to be a pivotal moment for the nation, offering insights into the administration’s policies and its commitment to maintaining unity, security, and peace in Nigeria.
Citizens are keenly awaiting the President’s message, which will resonate with the themes of national development and the enduring legacy of democratic values.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, echoed these sentiments in his remarks, emphasizing the importance of this broadcast and congratulating Nigerians on this momentous occasion.
He called for reflection on the contributions of the country’s founding fathers and urged citizens to continue working towards a united and peaceful Nigeria.
Democracy Day, celebrated on June 12, was established to honour the historic June 12, 1993, presidential election, which is remembered as the fairest and most transparent in Nigeria’s history.
