The DELTA State Government has dismissed allegations of neglect by opposition figures, asserting that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration remains focused on delivering verifiable projects across the state.
The government stated that certain politicians, out of office, were misrepresenting facts to mislead the public.
Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, made this declaration at a press conference in Asaba.
He criticised former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, for alleging government neglect in the southern and northern senatorial districts during his visit to Bomadi and Burutu.
Aniagwu, flanked by Executive Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Mr. Felix Ofou, emphasised that the Oborevwori administration has responded to critics through tangible projects.
He cited developments in health, education, roads, agriculture, and human capital across the state’s three senatorial districts.
“We continue to deliver infrastructure projects that speak for themselves. In Isoko South, multiple road projects are underway.
In Isoko North, the Southern Delta University in Ozoro has seen significant expansion. The Technical College in Irri nears completion, and rapid work continues on the College of Health Technology in Ovrode,” Aniagwu stated.
He listed ongoing road construction efforts, including the Ughelli-Asaba Road, the Uduophori Road in Patani, and the 47-kilometre Ohoror-Bomadi Road.
Additional works include the Bomadi-Gbaregolor Road (18.6km), the Okontu-Ogulaha Road (12.5km) in Burutu, and extensive internal roadworks in Warri South-West.
He noted that the Trans-Warri-Ode-Itsekiri Road and its bridges were progressing under a structured payment system to ensure timely completion.
“We are paying the contractor over a billion naira monthly under ISPO,” he added.
Aniagwu highlighted government efforts to improve Warri South, with completed projects such as the Upper and Lower Erejuwa Road and Esisi Road.
The administration is also finalising the Omadino Technical College and advancing city infrastructure, including the Summit Road facelift and major rehabilitation works in Okpanam.
He also detailed projects in Delta North, including storm drainage in Owa-Alero, the Eweshi-Utagba-Uno Road in Ndokwa West, and the completed Beneku Bridge in Ndokwa East, eliminating reliance on pontoons for crossings.
Reacting to Omo-Agege’s criticism, Aniagwu accused him of spreading misinformation.
“The former Deputy Senate President was part of past administrations, yet he now claims nothing was done.
His statements contradict his tenure as Secretary to the State Government,” he stated.
Aniagwu urged the opposition to acknowledge ongoing developments and avoid misleading the public.
“We provide this information so they can educate themselves rather than promote falsehoods,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner announced a ban on illegal mining at Ugbolu Heights and other areas, citing environmental degradation concerns.
He warned against further destruction of the landscape, threatening arrests for violators.
