THE EXPANSION of Lagos’ digital economy is set to gain momentum as the state government partners with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to enhance critical infrastructure and attract further investment.

The collaboration aligns with the administration’s focus on education and technology, which forms a core pillar of the THEMES+ development agenda.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu confirmed the partnership during a meeting with NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman, Aminu Maida, at the Lagos House in Ikeja.

He emphasised the need for safeguarding telecommunications infrastructure and fostering a robust digital ecosystem that benefits residents.

Over the past five years, Lagos has attracted approximately $1.2 billion in investments into its digital sector, covering data centres, submarine cable landings, and network expansion.

Maida praised the state’s commitment to technology, noting that President Tinubu’s recent Executive Order reinforces the urgency of protecting Nigeria’s digital assets.

He also said that the NCC and Lagos State government will collaborate to address challenges such as Right of Way policies and disruptions caused by road construction.
