Oborevwori Calls for Vigilance, Security to Attract Investors to Delta State

By Olivia Ambrose, JKNewsMedia Intern, Delta State

DELTA STATE Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, on Thursday emphasised his administration’s commitment to transforming the state into a prime destination for both domestic and foreign investors.

He spoke during the presentation of the staff of office to the new Asagba of Asaba, Professor Epiphany Azinge (SAN), at Ogwa-Uku Ahaba.

The Governor urged for collective efforts to maintain safety across communities and urban centres.

Oborevwori highlighted Asaba’s rapid growth as a desirable city, attracting numerous people seeking a secure place to settle.

However, he cautioned that the city’s expansion had led to an increase in criminal activities, urging local leaders to be vigilant.

“Asaba has become a city of choice for many people who find it a safe place to raise their families, but some undesirable elements are using this growth to infiltrate the city with harmful agendas,” he said.

The Governor called on the traditional rulers, especially the Asagba, to remain alert and work closely with the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council.

This, he explained, would help maintain peace and prevent conflicts that could hinder economic growth.

He also reiterated the importance of reporting suspicious activities to the authorities to protect the state’s long-standing peace.

Oborevwori also praised the new Asagba as a dynamic, purpose-driven leader, whose leadership qualities would strengthen the community and foster further development.

He urged the people of Asaba to support the new monarch, ensuring continued unity and progress in the kingdom.

Dr Kelvin Ezenyili, Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government, also congratulated the new Asagba, calling for unity among the people to uphold peace and harmony within the kingdom.

In his speech, the Governor acknowledged the crucial role of traditional institutions in modern governance, particularly in bridging the gap between the government and grassroots communities.

He said that traditional rulers were vital in educating citizens about government policies, health initiatives, and security matters, and played an essential role in fostering socio-economic development across the state.
