TELECOME SUBSCRIBERS in Nigeria now have access to a first-of-its-kind Device Protection Service following a fresh initiative launched by Globacom in partnership with Cubecover.
The service offers protection against screen and water damage for mobile devices, providing coverage of up to N50,000 for repairs or replacement.
Targeting both new and existing customers, the scheme introduces a micro-premium model with daily, weekly, and monthly payment options—N50 per day, N300 per week, or N600 monthly.
Globacom disclosed the initiative in a press statement issued in Lagos, stating that the service is designed to remove concerns over device damage among users.
According to Mojeed Aluko, Head of Value-Added Services, eligibility begins after a one-month active subscription.
Once registered, subscribers undergo a simple diagnostic test to verify screen integrity. Devices that pass the test are automatically linked to Cubecover through their IMEI.
Payments are processed via Glo airtime deductions, and users may choose between one-time payments and automatic renewals.
For those without Glo SIMs, registration is available at any Gloworld outlet alongside SIM and device purchases.
Cubecover’s Managing Director, Deji Macaulay, described the partnership as a strategic solution to everyday worries about smartphone usage, accidental damage, and repair delays.
The service aims to streamline protection through a fast, technology-driven process that avoids paperwork and delivers instant activation.
Globacom noted that the simplified enrolment through USSD—by dialling 70131#—along with affordable premiums and quick verification, positions the service as a timely solution for millions of smartphone users across the country.
