OVER 500 new students were formally welcomed into Joseph Ayó Babalóla University (JABU) academic community for the 2024/25 session at a matriculation ceremony held on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
The event, marked by colourful celebrations, took place at the Óba Óladele Ólashore Auditorium on the university’s campus in Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State.
Owned and operated by Christ Apostolic Church Worldwide, JABU upholds a strong faith-based educational philosophy.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor O. A. Fakolujó, addressing the new intakes, emphasised the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and student welfare.
He reminded students of the university’s strict zero-tolerance stance on cultism, warning that any involvement in such activities attracts severe consequences, including a spiritual curse pronounced by the church authorities.
During the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor also announced the accreditation of new postgraduate and undergraduate programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC), expanding academic opportunities within the institution.
The university’s radio station, Radio JABU 105.7FM, also provided a live broadcast of the matriculation ceremony.
The Registrar, Messr E. A. Onilado, led the new students in their official oath-taking, marking their formal induction into the university.
Following the event, the Chairman of the University’s Parents’ Forum, Barrister Abitogun O. Stephen, presented a stewardship report during a meeting with parents and guardians.
Attendees expressed their gratitude, celebrating the beginning of their wards’ journey towards earning a degree in an institution dedicated to holistic development.
