GRIEF FILLED the air in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as mourners gathered to pay their final respects to veteran gospel filmmaker and actor Moses Are, popularly known as Baba Gbenro.

The 65-year-old, who passed away in November 2024 following a battle with liver disease, was laid to rest on Friday in an emotional farewell attended by family, colleagues, and admirers.

The ceremony was marked by solemn hymns and heartfelt prayers, as attendees dressed in white and blue to honour the filmmaker’s legacy.

Many in the Christian film industry were present, paying tribute to his immense contributions to gospel storytelling.

His casket, adorned with gold trimmings and floral designs, stood at the centre of the gathering, surrounded by tearful mourners.

Christian video podcast Zion Kulture shared photos from the burial on X (formerly Twitter), capturing the deep sorrow and reverence expressed by those in attendance.

The images reflected a mix of grief and gratitude for the man whose films inspired many in the Christian faith.

Baba Gbenro’s influence in gospel filmmaking was undeniable.

As the founder and international president of Calvary Movies Drama Ministry, he dedicated his life to spreading Christian messages through film.

His works, known for their moral depth and spiritual impact, reached audiences across Nigeria and beyond.

Colleagues described him as a mentor and visionary, shaping the Christian film industry with his dedication and storytelling skills, adding that his passing leaves a significant void, but his legacy lives on through his films and the countless lives he touched.
