KFC Apologizes to Adebola Daniel Over Discrimination

By Joke Kujenya

ADEBOLA Daniel has received an apology from Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Nigeria, over allegations of discriminatory treatment at one of its outlets.

The incident unfolded on March 27, when Daniel shared his experience on social media, detailing how he and his family were reportedly denied entry into a KFC outlet located at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), due to the presence of a wheelchair.

Reacting swiftly, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) temporarily shut down the outlet on March 28, citing discrimination against Daniel, who is the son of former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel.

In response, KFC Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to combating bias and discrimination, stressing inclusivity and respect as fundamental values. The company expressed regret for the distress caused and announced immediate measures, including comprehensive inclusion training for its staff.

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) also condemned the discriminatory treatment, emphasizing the need to safeguard consumer interests and ensure accountability from KFC.

FCCPC notes that Adebola’s ordeal serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against discrimination, highlighting the importance of proactive measures to uphold inclusivity and respect in all spheres of society.
