THE RECENTLY concluded Lagos Shopping Festival (LSF) has highlighted the growing potential of a vibrant festival economy in the State.
Held at the iconic Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, the 72-hour event ended at 4.00am on Boxing Day, drawing thousands and showcasing Lagos’ ability to host world-class festivals with notable socio-economic benefits.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu praised the organisers, Chain Reactions Africa Ltd, for delivering a 72-hour non-stop shopping and entertainment spectacle.
He highlighted the initiative as a strategic effort to bolster Lagos’ festival economy during the Yuletide season.
Sanwo-Olu emphasised the festival’s focus on engaging young people through event management, stage design, sound and lighting systems, crowd control, and exhibition setups.
The event also created a platform for Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) to connect with shoppers, enabling small businesses to scale.
Leading sponsors like Tolaram Group, Guinness Nigeria, Zenith Bank, and First Bank were instrumental in ensuring the festival’s success.
State agencies, including Lagos Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and other security forces, ensured seamless coordination, with no reported incidents or emergencies, underscoring Lagos’ readiness to host large-scale events.
