NNPC Announces New Leadership to Boost Operational Excellence

By JKNewsMedia

THE NIGERIAN National Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NNPCL) has announced significant changes in its executive leadership on Wednesday.

The company stated these changes aim to boost operational efficiency and strengthen Nigeria’s position in the global energy sector.

The Board appointed Adedapo A. Segun as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Isiyaku Abdullahi as Executive Vice President (EVP) Downstream, and Udobong Ntia as EVP Upstream.

The company notes that the appointments align with NNPC’s focus on governance, financial sustainability, and strategic growth in line with the Petroleum Industry Act.

Mr. Segun, the newly appointed CFO, previously served as NNPC’s Executive Vice President for Downstream operations, where he was instrumental in optimizing financial processes, achieving ISO certification, and securing major financing deals for NNPC Ltd.

He is recognized for his contributions to the company’s progress toward its public listing and his dedication to transparency in financial management.

Mr. Abdullahi, now EVP Downstream, brings over 30 years of industry experience. Known for his financial acumen and leadership skills, Abdullahi has a track record of driving profitability, notably increasing the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company’s profits and overseeing Nigeria’s first audited national oil company financials in over four decades.

His financial and strategic insights have been key in advancing efficiency and cost-saving measures within the company.

Udobong Ntia, appointed as EVP Upstream, brings a robust background in project management and oil and gas production.

Previously an Executive Director at ExxonMobil, Ntia managed offshore production assets, optimized resource allocation, and ensured the safe production of 150,000 barrels of oil daily.

His expertise in asset management and stakeholder relations positions him well to strengthen NNPC’s upstream operations and enhance Nigeria’s oil production capacity.

NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, also emphasized that these appointments support the company’s mission to build a unified, capable leadership team, drive operational excellence, and foster long-term sustainability.

Furthermore, the board expressed appreciation for the service of former CFO Umar Ajiya and former EVP Downstream Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, recognizing their contributions to NNPC Ltd’s growth.
