AS ONDO State approaches its governorship election on November 16, former President Olusegun Obasanjo extended his best wishes to the state’s current governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who is seeking re-election on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.
Obasanjo met with Aiyedatiwa in Akure on Monday, where the governor was engaged in intensive campaign preparations.
During the visit, Obasanjo recalled the rigours of his own campaign trail in 1999, noting he once traveled through six South-West states in a single day, from Akure to Lagos.
He encouraged Aiyedatiwa, recognizing the significance of such campaign efforts and expressing his support for the governor’s commitment.
Aiyedatiwa, in response, thanked Obasanjo for his goodwill and commended his enduring legacy in Nigerian politics.
He described the former President as an influential figure, noting his humility and dedication despite his achievements and military background.
The governor acknowledged Obasanjo’s consistent presence in Nigeria’s development narrative.
