THE MINISTRY of Information, Ogun State, has promised increased mobilization efforts and defended its budget proposal of over N2 billion.
It also clarified its commitment to using various communication strategies to support all government agencies in promoting government policies and programmes.
This will be achieved through two-way communication channels that allow for interaction between the people and the government, the Information Ministry notes.
Mr. Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Media and Communications, made this statement on Friday while defending the ministry’s budget proposal for the next fiscal year before the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, led by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, at the Assembly Complex in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.
Akinmade assured the Assembly that the ministry would continue to respect the principles of separation of powers and would assist all arms of government.
He also emphasized that the next fiscal year would see the use of more techniques to mobilize the people for positive development, focusing on reawakening the public to embrace the state’s core values and branding to support the success of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration.
The ministry proposed a total budget of N2.023 billion for the upcoming year.
Of this, N328 million will be allocated to capital projects, N1.23 billion for overhead costs, and N461 million for personnel expenses.
In response, the House Committee called for more collaborative efforts from the ministry in mobilizing the public for government policies and programs.
Other agencies, including the State Television (OGTV), the State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC), and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, also defended their budget proposals before the State lawmakers.
