ZION PLAZA residents along Olusoji Avenue, which connects to Alao Akala Expressway in Ibadan, are poised for significant relief as the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) embarks on a major repair initiative.
Mr. Busoye Ogunlade, Chairman of OYSROMA, revealed on Friday in Ibadan that the agency’s efforts are focused not only on Zion Plaza but also on other deteriorating roads throughout the state.
Addressing the media, Ogunlade highlighted that OYSROMA’s plans include addressing the persistent drainage issues in the Zion Plaza-Olusoji Avenue area, crucial for preventing further deterioration and improving traffic flow.
Expressing gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his swift approval of the project, Ogunlade pointed out that the Zion Plaza Road was chosen as a priority due to its severe condition and its significance as a route leading to the residence of Senator Teslim Folarin, Governor Makinde’s main opposition in the recent elections.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has consistently shown he is responsive to the needs of the people. We’ve identified several roads in dire need of repair and have launched an extensive road maintenance program across Oyo State. Currently, our team is actively working on the Zion Plaza – Olusoji Avenue stretch leading to Alao Akala Expressway,” stated Ogunlade.
He outlined a vision of Oyo State featuring smooth, pothole-free roads, emphasizing the critical role improved infrastructure plays in fostering socio-economic growth.
Ogunlade also confirmed the commencement of work to clear and enhance the drainage systems, a crucial step in reducing traffic congestion and enhancing the overall driving experience for road users.
“Our team has started desilting the existing drains and repairing the most damaged sections of the road,” he added.
