Senate President Advocates Stronger Parliamentary Ties with Serbia

PASSIONATE about bolstering international relations, Nigeria’s Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has urged for enhanced parliamentary cooperation between Nigeria and Serbia.

During a significant meeting held in London on Wednesday, Akpabio engaged in discussion with Ms. Ana Brnabic, President of the Serbian Parliament.

Akpabio’s special assistant on media, Jackson Udom, revealed that the discussions between the two leaders centered on various areas of shared interest and the optimization of parliamentary engagements between Nigeria and Serbia.

The meeting initiated at the behest of Ms. Brnabic, also addressed pertinent issues within the International Parliamentary Union (IPU), reflecting a commitment to further dialogue and collaboration.

Brnabic extended a formal invitation to Nigeria’s Senate President to visit Serbia, with details of the visit to be announced later.

Akpabio’s recent election to the Executive Committee of the IPU also highlights Nigeria’s active engagement on the international stage, with notable contributions to global diplomacy and conflict resolution.

Accompanying Akpabio to the meeting were Senator Asuquo Ekpeyong, Chaiman, Senate Committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Cyprian Terseer Heens, Nigeria’s Acting High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

The diplomatic exchange Akpabio and Brnabic, the statement reads, signifies a positive step towards strengthening bilateral relations and fostering mutual growth and development between Nigeria and Serbia.
