THREE STATES will host President Bola Tinubu’s high-profile visit on Saturday, December 20, with stops in Borno, Bauchi and Lagos.
In Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, President Tinubu will commission projects executed by the Babagana Zulum administration in collaboration with the federal government, Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, said in a statement.
The president will also attend the wedding of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno State Governor Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and Hadiza Kam Salem.
From Maiduguri, President Tinubu will travel to Bauchi to condole with the state government and the family of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, the late Muslim cleric and leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, who died on November 27.
After the condolence visit, the president will depart for Lagos to spend the Christmas and end-of-year holidays.
While in Lagos, he will serve as the guest of honour at the Eyo Festival, scheduled for December 27 at Tafawa Balewa Square.
Onanuga said the festival will honour prominent figures including President Tinubu’s mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, and former governors Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Chief Michael Otedola.
The three-state visit forms part of President Tinubu’s festive season schedule.
The commissioning of projects in Maiduguri reflects collaboration between the federal government and the Borno state administration under Governor Zulum, the statement added.
Attendance at the wedding of Sadeeq Sheriff and Hadiza Kam Salem follows the president’s engagement with community and state events.
The Bauchi visit to offer condolences to the family of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi acknowledges the passing of the respected Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood leader.
President Tinubu’s Lagos engagements will extend beyond the Eyo Festival, encompassing several official and social functions during the holiday period.
The festival at Tafawa Balewa Square will spotlight leading figures from political and social spheres, highlighting Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji and former governors Jakande and Otedola.
The president’s itinerary confirms stops in each state for commissioning, attendance at celebrations, and participation in commemorative events, the statement noted.
Bayo Onanuga emphasised that the president’s schedule will ensure a balance between official duties and festive season participation, reflecting continuity of governance and community engagement across the three states.
The commissioning projects in Maiduguri, the wedding attendance, and the condolence visit in Bauchi are scheduled sequentially, prior to the Lagos festivities, the adviser said.
It also says the Eyo Festival, a traditional cultural event, will officially recognise the contributions of the listed dignitaries.
