Tinubu Orders Vehicle & Security Reductions for Govt Officials’ Convoys

By Jemimah Wellington, JKNewsMedia Reporter

AIMING TO curb government spending, President Bola Tinubu has enforced stringent limits on official convoys and security teams for ministers and agency heads, allowing only three vehicles per convoy.

This measure reflects the President’s focus on reducing waste and aligns with earlier steps he took to lower costs in public administration.

In a directive issued Thursday, Tinubu mandated that each minister, minister of state, and agency head be accompanied by a maximum of five security personnel.

These teams, Tinubu stated, will consist of four police officers and one Department of State Services (DSS) officer, with no additional security provided.

He directed the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, to consult military and paramilitary bodies on scaling down vehicle and personnel deployment.

The President’s prior cost-saving decisions included downsizing his foreign entourage from 50 to 20 officials, and to 25 locally.

Vice President Kashim Shettima’s team was also reduced to five personnel for international trips and 15 domestically.

These latest measures call for immediate compliance, highlighting the urgency and intent behind Tinubu’s cost-cutting agenda.
