PRESIDENT BOLA Tinubu assured French President Emmanuel Macron that Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms will drive significant progress across Africa.

Speaking during a bilateral discussion, Tinubu emphasised Nigeria’s commitment to restructuring its economy to lead the continent towards prosperity.

Highlighting the need for partnerships, Tinubu stated that Nigeria’s reforms are designed to attract foreign investments, tackle unemployment, and stabilise its financial systems.

He expressed confidence in the reforms’ potential to not only transform Nigeria but also positively impact Africa’s economic landscape.

Macron lauded Nigeria’s leadership role in Africa, referring to the country as the continent’s “big brother.”

He commended the resilience and intellect of Nigerians, citing global figures like Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka and the late Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti as examples of Nigeria’s global influence.

Macron acknowledged Nigeria’s young, talented population and their exceptional contributions across various sectors.

Reiterating France’s long-standing economic ties with Nigeria, Macron noted that French investors remain active in key industries, including oil, gas, agriculture, and food security.

He encouraged collaboration in emerging sectors such as solid minerals, technology, and Nollywood, emphasising their potential to foster innovation and growth.

Tinubu appreciated Macron’s commitment to African development and referenced the close ties between Nigerian and French entrepreneurs.

He highlighted the presence of business leaders such as Aliko Dangote and Tony Elumelu as evidence of Nigeria’s thriving entrepreneurial spirit.

Tinubu pledged to strengthen these relations further for the benefit of both nations.

Addressing the youth, Tinubu stressed the importance of building a future where Nigerian children can thrive with pride.

He noted that economic reforms are a pathway to overcoming past challenges, ensuring sustainable development.

“We must brace for the future with optimism and the courage of our founding fathers,” he affirmed.

In conclusion, Macron pledged continued support for Nigeria, recognising its strategic role in Africa’s future. “Nigeria and France will lead together, forging a path forward,”

Macron said, reiterating the importance of their shared vision for a prosperous Africa.
