Okada Ban’s Role Noted for Crime Reduction in Delta State

DELTA STATE Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has acknowledged the significant drops in crime rates across Asaba following the prohibition of commercial motorcycles, locally known as Okada.

Speaking during a visit by the Forum of Female Permanent Secretaries led by Dr. (Mrs) Mininie Oseji of the Ministry of Environment, Governor Oborevwori highlighted the positive impact of the ban on local security.

He also acknowledged the diligent efforts of Permanent Secretaries in advancing his MORE agenda, urging continued dedication to public service excellence.

Emphasizing his commitment to fostering conducive work environments and continuous training for civil servants, the governor stressed the state’s strides in gender-balanced leadership, with 23 male and 17 female Permanent Secretaries currently serving.

“We are determined to enhance the welfare of our civil servants and maintain a safe and secure state,” Oborevwori affirmed.

Regarding transportation challenges in Asaba and Warri, he assured ongoing efforts to explore viable mass transit solutions while safeguarding state resources.

Dr. (Mrs) Mininie Oseji, speaking on behalf of the forum, lauded the governor’s infrastructure initiatives and transparent fiscal management.

She appealed for expanded housing provisions for Permanent Secretaries, underscoring the need for adequate accommodation.

Oborevwori also affirmed his support for continual training initiatives and prudent fiscal policies, ensuring efficient resource allocation for sustainable development.
