CHALLENGES IN Nigeria’s construction industry continue to demand innovative solutions and stronger professional collaboration.
In response, the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) has taken a strategic step to enhance engagement within the sector, forging a partnership with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc to drive professional development, research, and capacity-building efforts.
During a recent visit to Julius Berger, NIQS Foundation’s Director-General, Qs. Dr. Celestina N. Eke, emphasised the importance of collaboration in addressing industry challenges.
She stated that the NIQS Foundation, registered under the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020, is dedicated to research and intervention programmes that improve lives and create a better working environment.
“This engagement marks a significant step in strengthening ties within the construction industry.
“We remain committed to working together on initiatives that will not only develop professionals but also enhance project quality and sustainability across Nigeria,” Dr. Eke noted.
The Chairman of the NIQS Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Olusegun J. Ajanlekoko, along with other key executives, reinforced the institute’s resolve to advance the profession through partnerships.
The delegation included NIQS Secretary General, Rotimi Bola Ojelade; Board Secretary, Osaretin Okoro; and representatives such as Rabiu Suleiman Yusuf and Ihebuzor Uzomeshina Obinna.
Julius Berger’s delegation, led by Director of Administration, Alh. Dr. Abdulaziz Isa Kaita, welcomed the collaboration, highlighting the company’s longstanding commitment to corporate social responsibility and capacity development.
Other Julius Berger representatives included Chief Risk Officer, Shakira Mustapha, and key personnel from the human resources and quantity surveying departments.
Both companies noted that the partnership is expected to drive meaningful progress in the construction sector, fostering knowledge-sharing, professional growth, and improved industry standards.
