SUBSTANDARD PROJECTS in Delta State are now under public scrutiny as the government introduces a whistle-blower policy to ensure accountability in project execution.
Citizens can report poorly executed projects by sending text messages, WhatsApp messages, pictures, and videos to a dedicated whistle-blower line.
Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, announced the initiative in Asaba, highlighting its role in enhancing public participation in governance.
He also emphasised that the policy would expose contractors and officials failing to meet standards.
Aniagwu assured residents that reports would be acted upon swiftly.
He reiterated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s stance on ensuring value for money in all government projects, stressing that no contractor, regardless of connections, would be exempt from accountability.
The government has already received complaints, prompting investigations into ongoing projects.
