PLANS TO establish the biggest cotton and apparel industry in West Africa are underway in Ogun State, promising 40,000 employment opportunities.

The initiative will be located within the state’s Special Agro-Processing Zone, positioning Ogun as a major hub for textile and garment production.

Governor Dapo Abiodun disclosed this during a meeting with the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Senator John Owan Enoh, in Abeokuta.

He assured that preparations for the groundbreaking ceremony were nearing completion, aligning with his administration’s broader vision to boost economic growth, attract investors, and enhance youth empowerment.

Infrastructure development remains a priority, with ongoing construction of major roads to facilitate business operations and improve mobility for residents.

Affordable housing, healthcare expansion, and school renovations also form part of the administration’s strategic initiatives to create a business-friendly environment.

Ogun is one of six states approved for a Special Processing Zone, a designation that enhances its industrial appeal.

Governor Abiodun highlighted the state’s geographical advantage, given its proximity to Lagos, and shared insights from his recent visit to Morocco, where investment incentives drive industrial expansion, including aircraft parts manufacturing.

Efforts to provide a reliable and cost-effective power supply for industries in the state are in progress, reinforcing Ogun’s status as Nigeria’s industrial backbone.

Senator Enoh acknowledged the state’s critical role in the country’s manufacturing landscape, reaffirming federal support for industrial development.
