NIGERIA’s AFROBEATS and reggae-dancehall sensation Patoranking will feature on CNN’s African Voices, a 30-minute magazine programme sponsored by Globacom.

The episode also highlights Derrick Cobbinah, a Ghanaian social advocate working to rehabilitate war veterans in the country.

Patoranking, renowned for his rise from humble beginnings to international fame, is expected to share his journey from the slums of Lagos to becoming a global music icon.

Born on 27 May 1990 and raised in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos, he grew up in a one-room apartment with his parents and five siblings.

His early career saw him performing on the streets before gaining national recognition.

Over the years, he has released several hit albums, including God Over Everything (2016), Wilmer (2019), Three (2020), and World Best (2023).

His music career has earned him numerous prestigious awards, including The Headies, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, and MTV Africa Music Awards.

In 2014, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) appointed him as a regional goodwill ambassador for Africa, acknowledging his efforts in youth empowerment and enterprise development.

The episode also features Derrick Cobbinah, President of the Ghana-Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (GHANJACC) and founder of Forces Help Africa, a non-governmental organisation dedicated to assisting war veterans.

His NGO has gained prominence in Ghana for supporting sick, injured, displaced, or destitute veterans.

The current edition of African Voices began airing on DSTV Channel 401 on Saturday, with repeat broadcasts scheduled for Sunday at 7 p.m. and Monday at 4.00am.
