PRINCE WILLIAM and Princess Catherine, both Prince and Princess of Wales, met with and greeted Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu at the Fairmont Hotel on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, ahead of a short ride to Windsor Castle, where King Charles III awaits the distinguished guests.

JKNewsMedia.com reports that President Tinubu, accompanied by the First Lady, arrived in the United Kingdom (UK) for a historic two-day State Visit, responding to an invitation from Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
A statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, confirmed that the Nigerian presidential plane touched down at London Stansted Airport at 3:18pm.
On arrival, the President was welcomed by Mark Bevan, Deputy Lieutenant of Essex, along with the acting Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK, Ambassador Mohammed Maidugu, and senior officials.
Also present at the hotel to receive the visiting dignitaries were senators, governors, and ministers from Nigeria. President Tinubu and the First Lady will be hosted at Windsor Castle from Wednesday, March 18, to Thursday, March 19.
Nigeria’s Presidency said the State Visit marks the first by a Nigerian leader in 37 years and the first time a Nigerian President has been hosted at Windsor Castle.
It also aims to deepen Nigeria-UK ties and explore investment opportunities for business communities in both countries.
While at Windsor Castle, Their Majesties will guide President Tinubu and the First Lady through a special exhibition from the Royal Collection highlighting Nigeria.
Private discussions between the King and the President will focus on strengthening interfaith dialogue initiatives both domestically and internationally.
The Royal Family will also host a State Banquet in honour of the Nigerian guests.
Also, President Tinubu is scheduled to meet UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, where bilateral engagements between senior officials from both nations will advance.
Their discussions is expected to culminate in signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) covering trade, investment, defence, and cultural cooperation.
Moreover, as part of the visit, President Tinubu will witness the signing of a £746 million financing agreement between UK Export Finance (UKEF), the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and the Federal Ministry of Finance (FMF).

Also, JKNewsMedia.com reports that the funding will support the refurbishment of the Lagos Port Complex (Apapa Quays) and the Tin Can Island Port Complex, enhancing Nigeria’s maritime infrastructure.
Thereafter, the President will also be the guest of honour at the Nigerian Modernism exhibition, celebrating modern Nigerian arts and culture, and will meet with Nigerian and British business leaders and the diaspora community.
President Tinubu’s delegation includes Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Attorney General and Minister of Justice Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, Ministers Dele Alake, Idris Mohammed, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, Wale Edun, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Hannatu Musawa, Bosun Tijani, General Christopher Musa (rtd), National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
The Nigerian President and First Lady are set to return home at the conclusion of the State Visit.
