PREPARATIONS FOR the 2027 General Election will come under scrutiny today as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) holds a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting to mark 100 days to the polls.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the meeting will provide updates on the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures being put in place to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, will address the gathering alongside other key stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
The Commission said the national stakeholders’ meeting reflects its commitment to transparency, proactive public communication and collaboration with key actors across the electoral ecosystem.
JKNewsMedia.com also reports that political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (IACCES), members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations, observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives are expected to attend.
The event will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja from 10:00 a.m. Attendance is strictly by invitation.
The proceedings will be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on INEC’s official social media platforms.
It also said that accredited media representatives and invited guests must present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.
