SENATE PRESIDENT Godswill Akpabio welcomed renowned Afrobeat artist David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to his office during a courtesy visit on Monday.

The meeting, which included Davido’s cousins, Hon. Tunji Adeleke and Folasade Adeleke, highlighted the artist’s international acclaim and his contributions to Nigeria’s cultural prominence.

Akpabio expressed his admiration for Davido’s achievements, commending him for enhancing Nigeria’s global image.

“Your success has made us immensely proud on the international stage,” Akpabio remarked and assured Davido of continued support for the entertainment sector, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering industry growth.

Addressing his guests, Akpabio said, “Our administration is inclusive and dedicated to national unity. We transcend party lines to work for Nigeria’s best interest. Your achievements contribute significantly to our national pride, and we are committed to supporting talents like yours.”

Akpabio urged Davido and his peers to uphold high ethical standards and avoid negative influences while emphasizing the importance of maintaining integrity in the face of challenges, drawing a parallel to issues faced by some American celebrities.

“The entertainment industry demands resilience and balance. Our support is steadfast, and we pray for your continued success and wisdom,” he added.

Davido reminisced about Akpabio’s hospitality during his tenure as Governor of Akwa Ibom State and as a Minister.

He also highlighted his philanthropic efforts through his foundation, which donates substantial funds to orphanages annually. “I contribute N300 million to N400 million each year to support orphanages. Additionally, I have a new album set to release in June or July,” Davido shared, expressing gratitude for Akpabio’s enduring support.
