Anxiety Grips Kano as Two Emirs Announce They’re Leading Friday Prayers

IT WAS a very edgy atmosphere on Friday for Kano residents as the recently reinstated Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, prepared to lead the two rakat congregational Friday prayers at the Emir’s Palace Mosque today.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Danburan of Kano on Thursday evening.

The statement had invited residents to attend and listen to the sermon delivered by Sanusi, heightening anticipation and tension across the city.

In a related development, a statement from an aide of the deposed Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, also called on residents to join him at the Emir’s Palace Mosque for the Jumu’at prayer, adding to the charged atmosphere.

A resident intoned that the simultaneous invitations from both prominent figures underscore the complex dynamics at play, as the people of Kano prepare for what promises to be a significant and potentially historic day at the mosque.

However, the service through without any rancour, an observer in the state later told JKNewsMedia.
