ALLEGATIONS OF a coordinated misinformation campaign have emerged over the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna, with the party’s Presidential Campaign Council accusing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of attempting to discredit the event.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the council, in a statement issued on Saturday, 24 October 2026, alleged that the opposition figures planned to circulate fabricated reports, counterfeit documents and manipulated videos to undermine President Bola Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and other APC leaders.
The statement, signed by Dele Alake, spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC), claimed that the alleged campaign involved the use of artificial intelligence (AI), deepfake videos and false narratives circulated through mainstream media and social media platforms.
Alake said the alleged misinformation effort had become evident over the preceding 24 hours, beginning with the circulation of a photograph showing a security vehicle stationed at a junction near an APC campaign billboard in Kaduna metropolis.
He alleged that Atiku and the ADC subsequently misrepresented the photograph as evidence that security personnel had been deployed to protect APC billboards. The council further claimed that a national newspaper published the account before Atiku shared it through his official social media handles.
The APC also alleged that another fabricated document had surfaced online, purportedly bearing Governor Uba Sani’s name and addressed to Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the APC PCC.

The purported letter allegedly claimed that the Kaduna State Government had released ₦2.3 trillion to host the party’s campaign rally.
Rejecting the claim, Alake argued that the alleged expenditure was inconsistent with the state’s annual budget figures. He cited Kaduna State’s budgets of N458.271 billion for 2024, N790.439 billion for 2025 and N985.9 billion for 2026, maintaining that their combined value remained below N2.3 trillion.
The spokesperson described the purported letter as baseless and questioned the plausibility of a state government spending the amount to host a political rally.
Alake further alleged that the opposition planned to circulate old footage, manipulated recordings and deepfake videos during the Kaduna rally to create the impression that residents opposed the APC campaign.
JKNewsMedia.com also reports that Alake further warned Nigerians to remain vigilant against what the council described as a coordinated attempt to manipulate public opinion and damage the party’s image ahead of the campaign event.
Also, the statement criticised Atiku and the ADC, accusing them of pursuing political power through alleged disinformation tactics as Alake urged Nigerians to reject what it described as attempts to mislead the public.
However, no response has been received from either the Atiku Abubakar or the ADC campaign teams to counter the allegations as at the time of this publication.
