PREPARATION FOR the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State gathered momentum as the All Progressives Congress (APC) confirmed Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Balogun as its Deputy Governorship candidate.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that Mrs Balogun will run alongside the party’s governorship flag bearer, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, on the APC ticket.
Her emergence followed the announcement by Governor Dapo Abiodun at the APC Stakeholders’ Strategic Meeting in Abeokuta on Friday, where he disclosed that the deputy governorship position had been zoned to Ogun East Senatorial District.
Addressing party leaders and stakeholders, the governor said Mrs Balogun was selected as the preferred choice of the governorship candidate from among qualified aspirants from Ogun East, the district designated to produce the deputy governor.
Presenting her for endorsement, Senator Adeola described Mrs Balogun as a highly qualified and competent choice. He expressed confidence that her experience and leadership qualities would strengthen the APC ticket and contribute to the party’s developmental agenda for Ogun State.
Officially announcing the nomination, Ogun State APC Chairman, Alhaji Yemi Sanusi, said the decision followed extensive consultations in line with the party’s zoning arrangement.
Sanusi said Mrs Balogun’s educational qualifications, corporate experience and commitment to entrepreneurship development distinguished her as an ideal candidate for the position.
Mrs. Balogun is a corporate executive, strategic finance expert and advocate of industrial development with more than three decades of professional experience spanning manufacturing, corporate governance, strategic finance, operational transformation and business expansion.
She serves as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director, Finance and Information Technology, at Rite Foods Limited.
The party stated that under her leadership, the company had grown into a business valued at more than ₦500 billion with a strong national footprint and expanding production capacity.
Mrs Balogun holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Lagos and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Bayes Business School, formerly Cass Business School, London.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
She has also attended executive leadership programmes at Harvard Business School and The Wharton School.
The APC said Mrs Balogun is respected for her commitment to economic empowerment, women’s advancement, youth development and national development.
The party added that she advocates institutional strengthening, industrial growth, responsible governance and expanded economic opportunities as drivers of sustainable prosperity.
Party leaders said her leadership philosophy is founded on integrity, accountability, excellence, service and long term impact.
According to the APC, her professional journey reflects technical competence, executive leadership, strategic vision and people centred impact.
The party stated that her ability to address complex challenges, build sustainable systems, foster stakeholder collaboration and drive organisational transformation has earned her recognition within Nigeria’s corporate and socioeconomic landscape.
Mrs Balogun, the APC added, remains committed to using her experience, leadership capacity and institutional knowledge to promote sustainable development, economic transformation, industrial growth and shared prosperity in Ogun State and across Nigeria.
She is married with children and is admired for her family values, which the party said continue to shape her dedication to service, responsibility and legacy building.
