The All Progressives Congress (APC) has notified that it will convene its National Executive Committee meeting on July 24 to nominate a substantive National Chairman following the resignation of Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Details of the upcoming meeting were disclosed on Monday by the Deputy National Secretary of the APC, Festus Fuanter, after a session of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to the statement, a formal notice of the NEC meeting has been issued to the Independent National Electoral Commission, in compliance with electoral regulations.
The party stated that the July gathering will be decisive in appointing new leadership to steer the ruling party forward.
Acting National Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, assumed office on Monday and chaired an emergency NWC session shortly after his appointment was confirmed.
His elevation followed a directive from President Bola Tinubu, who approved Dalori’s interim leadership pending formal ratification by the NEC.
Ganduje’s resignation, which was submitted on Friday, triggered the leadership transition now underway within the APC hierarchy.
The statement notes that party officials are expected to finalise succession arrangements during the scheduled NEC meeting later this month.
