RIVERS State Governor, Sininalayi Fubara, has initiated a minor cabinet reshuffle, affecting two key positions in the state government.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Zacchaeus Adangor, and the Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu, have been redeployed to new ministries.

In a statement released on Tuesday and signed by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Tammy Danagogo, it was announced that the governor had redeployed Adangor to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office), while Kamalu was transferred to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.

The directive instructed both officials to promptly hand over all official documents pertaining to the previous offices to their respective Permanent Secretaries, with the redeployments taking immediate effect.

The statement also emphasized that all handover processes must be completed without delay.

However, the reasons behind the redeployment were not provided by the Rivers State Government; but speculations had it that both commissioners known to be loyalists of former Governor Nyesom Wike, had earlier resigned from their positions last December amid political tensions in the state due to rifts between Fubara and Wike.

Wike now serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); but the two men subsequently reinstated as part of a peace agreement brokered by President Bola Tinubu.

The release noted that the reshuffle underscores Gov Fubara’s efforts to realign his administration and possible introduce fresh perspectives to key ministerial positions while the precise implications of these changes on the state’s governance and policy direction is being awaited to be seen.
