EIGHTEEN NEWLY elected local government chairmen and vice chairmen, all representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), IN Cross River State has been officially sworn-in.
Following their victories in the recent November 2 elections, Governor Bassey Otu led the inauguration ceremony at Dan Archibong Lodge in Calabar, where he set clear expectations for these leaders to prioritize community welfare and uphold transparency, accountability, and the ‘People First’ approach.
Governor Otu tasked the new officials with boosting community development, addressing infrastructure gaps, and enhancing public services across their respective local governments.
He emphasized that their roles are essential to realizing the state’s objectives of improving the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), attracting investment, and bettering the lives of Cross River residents.
He reminded the leaders of their constitutional responsibilities, highlighting the local government’s critical role as the closest tier of government to the people.
Governor Otu pointed out that their success would be a test of the public’s confidence, stating, “The accomplishment of your tasks will prove your ability to fulfill campaign promises.”
Obudu LGA Chairman Hon. Udiandeye Peter, speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated officials, pledged a commitment to Governor Otu’s vision of bringing tangible benefits to grassroots communities.
He extended gratitude to Cross Riverians for their trust and prayed for strength to fulfill their duties.
