THE EMPOWERMENT of female drivers in Cross River State took a significant step forward, as members of the Female Commercial Drivers Association expressed appreciation for First Lady Rev. Eyoanwa Bassey Otu’s impactful support.

Her recent awards of one million Naira each to nine outstanding female drivers have underscored a commitment to elevating women in traditionally male-dominated fields.

These awards followed the drivers’ exceptional performance during rigorous training by the state’s Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), aimed at strengthening their skills.

The initiative not only rewarded these women but also encouraged resilience, marking an important shift in the region’s approach to gender equality in the transport sector.

The Association, led by President Philomina Asibe Ifeoma, extended gratitude to Chief VIO, Engr. Paul Bepeh, for facilitating the programme.

Engr. Bepeh’s leadership played a crucial role in organizing the VIO training, which the Association described as transformative for female drivers.

They note that this move by the First Lady reflects her vision of empowering women across Cross River State, inspiring confidence and commitment among women striving for excellence.
