POLICE IN Nasarawa State have arrested five suspects accused of collaborating with kidnappers who recently held 14 people hostages in a forest near Achido village, straddling the border between Abuja and Kogi State.

The arrests were announced Tuesday on the Nasarawa State Police Command’s official social media platform.

Police spokesperson Ramhan Nansel confirmed that the suspects admitted to supplying food and other necessities to the kidnappers while the victims were held in captivity.

Authorities identified the victims, who are mostly from Kuje, Rubuchi, and Tanshi areas of Abuja, as Adamu Abdullahi, Musa Ahmed, Auwal Tashai, Kabiru Iliya, Sabo Yakubu, Sagir Iliya, and Yunusa Danladi.

The remaining hostages, all men from Lapai in Niger State, include Hussaini Yakubu, Haruna Usman, Jibrin Bature, Isyaka Yakubu, Sule Bello, and Yusuf Yusuf.

The five suspects—Shuaibu Garba, Umar Mohammed, Yakubu Kasim, Mustapha Adamu, and Abdul Mohammed—face allegations of complicity in aiding the kidnappers.

Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada, appealed to the public for vigilance, urging community members to report any suspicious activities to local law enforcement.

Nadada reiterated his commitment to strengthening collaboration with residents to prevent future criminal activities in the region.
